FAQ

What does a typical appointment look like?

Each appointment you have will be one-on-one with the same therapist.  Each session is about 60 minutes and you will be reassessed, and have a variety of treatments including manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular re-education, and patient education to further your improvements at home.

Do I need a referral from my Doctor or Provider?

No!  Both North and South Carolina have “direct access”, meaning that you do not need a referral to get started with physical therapy.  This not only saves time and money, but you can avoid unnecessary testing and medications by seeing a specialist (me!) first.  After your first visit, a write up with a “plan of care” will be sent to your provider of choice so that everyone on your medical team is aware of your treatment path.

How many visits will it take?

This varies greatly from person to person, depending on why you are attending pelvic floor PT, how long you have been experiencing your symptoms, and potential barriers that will play a role in your recovery.  With both the hybrid and virtual program, there is a 3-month commitment - this is because it might take that long for there to be significant and substantial improvements in your pelvic health.  We also want to make sure that these positive changes stick, so that you don't end up seeking care again!

Do you have a private treatment room?

Yes!  All of your sessions will be performed in a private treatment room (or your own home!) For exercise demonstration or specific movement assessment we may move to a larger space or hallway to have more room, but you will be back in your clothes for this.

Are the virtual sessions secure?

Yes! All virtual sessions are performed though our HIPAA compliant, secure telehealth platform (where your profile is).  The sessions will never be recorded, and you will never be asked to get undressed or show your vulva on camera.
